Shinminato Museum

Exhibits a wide range of surveying, equipment, maps, and records bequeathed by Edo Period surveyor Ishikuro Nobuyoshi and others, providing an experience of how surveying was conducted in the Edo Period (1603 to 1868).

Shinminato Bridge

On fine days, the largest cable-stayed bridge on the Sea of Japan coast offers sweeping views of the Sea of Japan, the Tateyama Mountain Range, and the Noto Peninsula. The double-deck bridge has space for vehicle traffic on the upper deck and pedestrians on the lower deck, enabling visitors to enjoy the stunning views while walking across.

Kaiwomaru Park

The “Kaiwomaru” is a sailing ship built as a training ship for a merchant marine school.
The park grounds provide an enjoyable place for people to gather, learn, and relax.
Ten times each year, the ship is decked out in all 29 sails, and it is a spectacular sight.

Hojozu Hachimangu Shrine

A shrine is famous for its connections to Ōtomo no Yakamochi, a statesman and waka poet assigned to work in this area during the Nara Period (710-794AD). The shrine grounds contain a monument engraved with a waka by Ōtomo no Yakamochi and a slab inscribed with a haiku composed by Edo Period haiku master Matsuo Bashō.

Takeuchi Genzo Memorial Hall

This museum houses and exhibits reliefs (kote-e) by Takeuchi Genzo, an expert craftsman of Kosugi Sakan (plasterwork), who was active in the late Meiji (1868-1912) and early Showa (1926–1989) Periods.
Sakan (plaster craftsman) used a trowel to apply reliefs and decorations (kote-e) to building walls and ceilings, carving pictures and patterns. Visitors to the museum can experience creating their own kote-e.
Registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property.

Kosugi Pavilion

Registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property, this exhibition space uses the building of the Kosugi Savings Bank, which began operation in 1900.
The kura storehouse style with black plaster applied also includes aspects of Western architecture, and is luxuriously decorated.
Exhibits include the works of Japanese‐style painter Gōkura Senjin and the local traditional ceramics called Kosugi-yaki.
