Tonami Sankyoson Museum

This museum offers the opportunity to learn about the wonders of the disperse-houses village as well as experience old-style lifestyles and new living styles in traditional houses, showcasing the charms of the disperse-houses village scenery and traditional culture.

Demachi Children’s Kabuki Hikiyama Hall

A rare sight anywhere within Japan, the children’s kabuki on the Hikiyama festival float is a magnificent cultural festival which developed together with the town.
This hall displays three festival floats under one roof, enabling visitors to enjoy the gorgeous sight in any season.

Masuyama Castle Ruins

An enormous castle built on a hilltop.
Uesugi Kenshin who was said to be one of the strongest warriors of his time, praised this castle as being “extremely well-defended and not easily overcome.” Relics such as the embankment walls, mounds, and the site of the buildings remain today.

Senkōji Temple

The main temple building enshrines a standing statue of the Kannon Bosatsu.
Maeda Toshinaga rebuilt the garan (temple complex) which was burnt down during wartime, but it was burnt down again, and rebuilt in the mid-Edo Period (1603 to 1868).

Matsukawayoke Levees

In order to protect Tonami Plain from flooding, the Kaga Clan spent 45 years working to unify the course of the Shōgawa River.
Pine trees were planted in order to solidify the levees.

Nyudo House

Traditional house surrounded by groves of trees in a broad area dotted with disperse-houses.
With the current house dating from 1853, this is a valuable example of the Azumadachi style of architecture common in the villages of the Tonami Plain.
